TEFAF MAASTRICHT 2025
TEFAF MAASTRICHT 2025
Pierre Marie Giraud is pleased to announce the gallery's participation in TEFAF Maastricht 2025, from March 13 to March 20.
We will showcase a curated selection of unique artworks and limited-edition pieces that highlight a conversation between artists from Europe, Japan, and the United States, working with materials such as glass, ceramics, wood, and lacquer. This showcase presents a range of artistic expressions from different regions, offering a unique perspective on the decorative arts. At TEFAF Maastricht 2025, our booth will provide insight into the diverse approaches and traditions in contemporary art from around the world.
For the first time, at TEFAF Maastricht 2025, we are proud to present the works of Aya Hatano and Kurokawa Toru. Both artists are renowned for their distinct approaches to ceramics, blending tradition with innovation, and embracing the inherent beauty of their materials.
Aya Hatano?s work explores form, repetition, and emotion through clay. With a background in sculpture, her ceramics reflect harmonious shapes influenced by nature and universal patterns. Drawing on ancient traditions, her pieces highlight collective histories and personal connections. Aya?s introspective process, guided by the material itself, creates works that balance structure, texture, and subtle emotional depth. Her ongoing series, inspired by time, encourages reflection on humanity?s connection to nature.
Kurokawa Toru explores materiality, abstraction, and intellectual concepts through sculpture and painting. His work, shaped by the natural properties of clay and stone, evolves organically, with materials like clay cracking, warping, and responding to firing. Focused on the intersection of mathematics and ceramics, Kurokawa?s pieces reflect both natural and human-made geometry. His craftsmanship and embrace of clay's unpredictability create sculptures that balance structure and spontaneity.
Both artists represent the evolving frontier of contemporary ceramics, pushing the boundaries of the medium while remaining grounded in its rich traditions. Their works are a celebration of craftsmanship, materiality, and abstract thought, offering a unique and compelling dialogue between the past, present, and future of ceramic art.
TEFAF Maastricht 2025 will take place from March 15 to 20, with preview days on March 13 and 14.
