Ritsue Mishima

16 November - 14 December 2024

Pierre Marie Giraud is pleased to invite you to visit the online viewing of Ritsue Mishima's solo exhibition. Born in Kyoto, she currently splits her life between Japan and Italy. Mishima has spent decades creating glass sculptures that explore the relationship between light, nature, and the cosmos. Created in Venice, her work is deeply rooted in the traditions of Murano glassblowing, yet she distinguishes herself by working exclusively with cristallo glass, using its translucency to capture and reflect light in ways that evoke the beauty of the natural world. Each piece is crafted through an intuitive, collaborative process with skilled glassblowers in Murano, resulting in one-of-a-kind explorations of form, texture, and light.

Mishima's abstract, organic sculptures are delicate yet striking, with intricate surfaces and reworked details designed to transform with every shift in light. Her work, which has been recognized in exhibitions worldwide, invites the viewer to experience a world where the boundaries between art, nature, and light dissolve. The works explore light, transparency, liquidity, and purity, all beautifully embodied in the fluid, glowing forms of the glass sculptures.

We invite you to immerse yourself in the world of Ritsue Mishima's glass art through this online viewing. Experience the elegance that defines her artistic journey.
